Robert Cathcart

Born in Belleville, Ontario in 1961.  From a young age Robert always demonstrated his creative skills through painting and drawing.  Following high school he continued on the creative path studying graphic design at Durham College from 1981 to 1984.  Upon graduating he re-located to Toronto to begin his career as a graphic designer.

His successful design career was predominately focused on healthcare, producing promotional material for the pharmaceutical industry.  As well as an accomplished designer, he also worked as an account service representative for a Toronto advertising agency.

After many successful years in the advertising world Robert left the industry in 2010 to pursue his passion for painting and set up his studio in Aurora, Ontario.  A self-taught oil painter, he uses broad brush strokes and vibrant colours to capture his vision in its most simplistic form. His inspiration comes from the Canadian landscape and its natural creations of colours, shapes and textures.  He is active in the arts community participating in local juried shows.  Recent exhibitions include Lorimer Gallery, Meta4 Contemporary Craft Gallery, Oxtongue Craft Cabin & Gallery and Toronto Artist Project.

Many of his paintings are in private collections throughout Canada and the United States.
